About Kovacs

MADE. RIGHT. HERE.

True artisan craft is not just about measuring every millimetre – you need to know it by heart. We’ve been designing, constructing and finishing luxury furniture in Christchurch since 1959.

In this time we’ve remained true to the original ethos, from first inspiration to final finish our handiwork must be built to inspire, to uphold and to endure. Be it the sumptuous elegance of the Grace or the reliable sophistication of the Ranfurly, we build for this generation and the next.

The company began in 1959 in Christchurch, New Zealand under the careful guidance of  Stephen Kovacs. Since then the family business has passed down the experience of traditional European artisans while cultivating the innovation each new generation has provided.

Despite changes in style our ongoing commitment to the finest techniques has resulted in the consistent development of distinctive, timeless luxury furniture. We have carefully evolved close relationships with a range of suppliers over these years. We always look to source our materials from companies that parallel our devotion to the craft.

From our base in the beautiful South Island our furniture has travelled throughout New Zealand and beyond. The popularity of the Kovacs brand has grown with each generation and we believe will continue to do so as discerning consumers recognise the difference investing in true luxury provides.

That difference? The best looking, most comfortable, durable and timelessly stylish furniture you'll own.

Life is about making choices. Like it or not you have to compromise – nobody can have the best of everything. But, occasionally, you can have the best of something.
